At various points in its long and colourful history Cheshire has been rightly regarded as an area of military, economic and agricultural
importance, but at the same time its folk culture has not always received the attention that it necessarily deserves. In a modest attempt
to address at least some of the balance, all of the material on this recording is either from or about people and places within the old
county boundary and its collection has been, and still is, an interesting, if at times challenging, exercise.
This recording was sponsored by the former Cheshire County Council. "This is an excellent CD" - Folk North West "Roy Clinging's fine voice and excellent phrasing will be heard more widely" - The Living Tradition |

“Roy's timely follow-up to his 1999 Cheshire Born again presents a great choice of songs in interesting versions and exceedingly stylish
performances vocally and concertinally (is there such a word? - if there isn't, then there is now!) from Roy himself. The principal
difference is that whereas the earlier album concentrated on songs and tunes from Roy's native Cheshire, the new album contains a
fair sprinkling of maritime material alongside unusual versions of classics of the ballad repertoire.”- David Kidman, The Living Tradition ". . . some of the best traditional music you will ever hear." - Folk North West ". . . performed with the skill & confidence of a craftsman." - Pete Coe |

For this album Roy has joined forces with another Cheshire musician, Neil Brookes. Both Roy and Neil are seasoned campaigners
with traditional music in their blood (both were brought up in families with a strong folk music involvement) and they are keen to
carry this on. Roy’s great love is traditional song and Neil is an experienced dance musician. Roy’s singing and concertina playing
are enhanced by Neil’s musicianship as he complements the songs and inspires the tunes on fiddle and octave fiddle.
“All Good Stuff, well handled by two very good musicians.” - The Living Tradition "Vital and characterful performances.” - fRoots “Very highly recommended.” - Shreds and Patches “At the forefront of traditional singers and musicians in the UK.” - Folk North West “Buy it, play it, close your eyes and savour it. You will not get better!” - Des Redwood |

“There is nothing more irritating, to me anyway, than song books that race through page after page of sometimes meaningless lyrics with no explanation of whence they came from and no rhyme or reason for their being. Not so the very well researched and presented "Cheshire Folk Songs & Associated Traditions" compiled by Chester based singer and writer Roy Clinging whose stature, not only as a performer of traditional music but as a collector, has grown further with this delightful and very attractive publication” - Folk North West
“Roy Clinging is becoming increasingly well known as a lively and discriminating performer, with a thoughtful approach and a deep feeling for the tradition. The material ranges from Child ballads to broadsides to recent captures from oral tradition, together with contemporary compositions. I have a feeling that the book is going to be well-thumbed and the songs well sung.” - Roy Palmer, EDS Magazine
